The dog under one year has specific nutritional needs that we must cover by choosing a suitable food for them.

 

Puppy’s nutritional needs

The feeding always has to adapt to the age of the dog.

After the period of lactation (which lasts until two months of age) the dog will eat solid food and it is very important to choose one that provides everything the puppy need.

A young dog burns more energy, so his food should provide him proteins and fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals to the appropriate extent.

Proteins should be the basis of the puppy’s diet, followed by fats (main sources of energy).

Vitamins and minerals are also essential in their diet, because they stimulate the functioning of the immune system and help cells and organs to perform their functions correctly.

Carbohydrates, in addition to being one of the energy sources that the dog uses (after fats), have a primordial role at intermediary metabolism: The dog obtains glucose by the consumption of carbohydrates and this glucose is essential to convert fats into energy. Rice is the ideal source of carbohydrates for the dog.

 

 

What is an ideal food for a puppy

Before weaning, the dog should begin to eat solid food, which will be combined with breast milk. After two months, the solid food will be the dog’s nutritional base and should be administered in three doses a day.

In order to meet their needs, it is important that this food is composed in greater percentage by meat and fish (no flavorings or meat byproducts) and that includes only cereals such as rice, which provides many benefits and is the only one that, as it is gluten free, it does not produce intolerance or allergies (it is not considered as a source of allergens by the European Union).

This glucosamine favours the development of cartilaginous tissues and protects the joints, keeping them healthy. It is very beneficial in cases of osteoarthritis or hip dysplasia, for example, sometimes even very young dogs suffer.

In addition, Delicias for puppies contains milk, which provides calcium and phosphorus, also helping the joint development.

 

5.- Help the body to perform its functions normally.

Delicias provides vitamins and minerals essential for the body: vitamins A, D and E and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper, helping cells and organs to perform their functions.

Our semi-moist food provides monounsaturated fatty acids such as Oleic Acid (Omega 9) and polyunsaturated acids such as Omega 3 and 6, which, among other properties, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Vitamins A and E and the iron, copper and zinc that our food provides help to the immune response of the puppy organism.
